Social Interaction and Relationships

Social media platforms have transformed the way young people form and maintain relationships. These platforms make it easy to communicate with friends and peers across distances, fostering a sense of global connectedness. However, online interactions often replace physical socialization, weakening interpersonal and communication skills. Many youths develop superficial friendships based on online engagement

rather than emotional depth.

Moreover, misunderstandings and conflicts arise easily due to the absence of nonverbal cues such as tone and facial expression. Despite these challenges, social media also provides safe spaces for marginalized youth to find communities that offer emotional support and acceptance, proving that its influence on relationships can be both positive and negative.
