Mental Health and Emotional Well-being

There is growing evidence that prolonged use of social media can affect the mental and emotional well-being of young people. Platforms like TikTok and Instagram use algorithms that keep users engaged for long periods, which can lead to addiction and dependency. Constant comparison with others’ seemingly perfect lives can result in feelings of inadequacy, anxiety, and depression.

Cyberbullying, online harassment, and negative comments further contribute to emotional distress. Moreover, the pursuit of social validation through likes and shares can create a cycle of dependence on external approval, reducing self-esteem and emotional resilience. Therefore, social media not only entertains but also deeply influences the psychological health of its users.
